The Beginning

May 27, Friday. We left Ft. Lauderdale aboard Condor airline and arrived into Frankfurt, Germany, on May 28.  Took a train to Koblenz.   Along the way we saw vineyards on the side hills of the Rhein River, old castles, and nice villages.  Picked up Karl, our camper van, from Rolf and Britta.  Enjoyed a couple beers at our campground and a weinerschnitzel.

May 29, Sunday.  The use of our GPS with European maps is great.  We camped at Creglingen/Munster, along the Romantische Strasse.  This is an area of rural scenery with old villages.  The Romantishe Strasse runs from the vineyard country around Wurzburg to the Bavarian Alps in Fussen.  In the village of Munster, they had adult go cart races and there was music, beer, and food so we joined in the festivities.

May 30, Monday.  Drove along the Strasse (highway) and stopped along the way.  There were walled cities and small villages, all with the German charm and cleanliness.  We stopped at Donauworth because we had a mechanical issue with Karl.  We stayed in a lovely hotel (courtesy of Karl's owner) while it is being serviced.
