St Johns River Cruise, Feb 2011

Jim and I left Palm Coast, FL on Thursday, February 17, 2011, aboard PEACE and returned home Feb 27.  Dave and Pat Block, on INDECISION, traveled with us the entire trip.  Two other boats spent a couple nights with us, and we had people drive and visit us along the way.
Day 1 we moored in St Augustine.  Went to the American Legion to drink beer, play pool, and then had dinner with friends.  Vern spent a couple nights with us and George and Kathy Waite drove up for the evening.

Day 2 we moved to Pine Island, anchored, took our dinghies out, and then grilled dinner.

Day 3 our stop was at the Jacksonville city marina.  Bud and Karen Polk spent two nights on their boat with us.  Tony, Andrea, Eric, and Sofia came down to the dock to visit.
Day 4 we anchored at Doctor's Lake and went to Whitey's Fish Camp.  Day 5 we anchored at Murphy's Creek.  There were a few alligators.
Day 6 and 7 we docked at Hontoon Island State Park for two nights.  We took our dinghy to Blue Springs State Park to see the manatees.  There were several alligators along the water side.  We took a hike one morning through the park.

Day 8 we anchored at Palatka.  The last shuttle launch was late afternoon and we viewed from shore.  If you enlarge the picture, you will see the shuttle (look for the red dot) in the sky.  Walked to the Elks where we had a few beers and Pat and I played pool.

Day 9 we went to Six Mile Creek and tied up to the dock of the Outback Crab Shack.  Several friends drove over and met us for cocktails and dinner.
Day 10 we caught the tide and anchored at Pine Island.  It was our last night before returning home the next day.  We enjoyed getting to know Dave and Pat better, it was nice to spend time with our friends either via boat or car, the scenery was fabulous, and weather was perfect throughout.  PEACE signing OUT!
